Cursed Ending
‘Cursed’ begins with Nimue, but during the ten episodes, they brings in a group of other characters into the conflict, all of whom become immensely related in the bigger picture. The story takes substantial turns, and the ones that we thought we disliked we grow to like, and the ones that we thought were friends, turn out to be enemies. In the final episode, all the things end into a war for survival where revelations and betrayals overflow, along with some fresh twists that gravel the way for the second season.
After thinking a lot about her people, Nimue decides to surrender in front of the demands that King Uther put. She demanded that, in exchange for her and sword, King Uther will give ships to take her people to the other side of the sea, where they can create a new world for themselves without the fear of oppression by the Church.
In the meantime, the Red Paladin allies with Cumber, who wants the throne of Uther for himself.
Previously, Merlin had made a settlement with Cumber where he gave him the proof that he would further continue his legitimacy to the throne in exchange for Nimue’s safety. But, as soon as he realises that King is not going with his plan, so he runs to his daughter to inform her about the danger. On the way, he gets attacked by the killer sent by Rugen. However, he manages to kill the attacker but gets wounded in the process. With him gone, Cumber finds himself at an opportunity to agree with the Church and demands the sword in exchange for delivering Nimue to them.
While the Fey, headed by Arthur, boards the ships sent by Uther, Cumber’s army attacks them and kills a lot of them on the beach. The respite comes in the form of the Red Spear, Cumber’s avowed enemies. At the end of the battle, an alliance gets formed by Arthur between the Fey and the Red Spear.
Meanwhile, Nimue arrives at Uther’s camp to give herself over to him, but she leaves the sword with Morgana. She demands the release of Gawain and Squirrel, and Uther promises her that he will think about it. However, when Gawain gets released, he is too wounded to live. So, Nimue tries to use her magic to fix him, but it does not work as expected. She is taken by the Red Paladin who attack Uther’s army but is saved just in time by Morgana, who now utilises the power of the Widow. Together, they found Merlin, and somehow they make their way out of the battle.
On the way, they got attacked by Iris, who shoots Nimue two arrows. In result, Nimue got imbalanced, and Fey Queen falls down the waterfall, apparently to her death. And Merlin gets anger, who swings the sword again, to get back his magic, and explodes his rage on Iris and the Paladins. After he killed them, he disappears with the sword and Morgana.
While all this happens, the weeping Monk goes through an identity dilemma of his own. Conflict arises between him and the Paladins when he finds out that they are going to torture Squirrel. And he betrays the Paladins to save Squirrel. In the end, both of them run away together, and the Monk reveals that his real name is Lancelot.

What the Ending means: Is Nimue Alive or Dead?
With so much going in the final episode of the Cursed season one and it leaves a lot of possibilities and incidents followed up in next season. Now the essential question is, Is Nimue is dead or Alive?
Well, though she looks fatally wounded in the end, that doesn’t mean that she is dead. The final scene also happens to be the first scene of the show, where Nimue had started to narrate the story. It is fair to say that the Fey Queen will return. Her magic has always saved her from the worst situations, and her magic will again act to save her life.
In the end, Nimue’s people get more persuasive, they also have a ruthless villain cut out for the next season. Apart from the Red Paladins, the show also gave us Iris, a young woman who is ready to do whatever it takes to join the positions of the elite soldiers of the Church. After killing Nimue as they think, she joins the most elite group of them all, exceeding even the Red Paladin. How her story progresses in the next season is also something to look forward to.
