Eddie Money/Edward Mahoney was an American rock performer, a songwriter who gained victory in the 1970s and 1980s with a chain of top 40 scores and platinum albums. Popular amongst them include “Take Me Home Tonight”, “Walk on Water”, “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise”.

His real name was Edward Joseph Mahoney. He served as a Patrolman in the New York City Police Dept. before reaching fame with his music. His brother is a resigned Captain from the NYPD. Eddie Money comes from an Irish Catholic family. He was born on March 21, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York City. Money’s family was connected with law enforcement and he was destined to follow in their footsteps. After becoming a police officer, like his father, during the late 1960s, he began showing interest in music and eventually ended his law enforcement career for becoming a musician. Money traveled to Berkeley, California, and became a regular at area clubs, where he eventually got enough consideration to secure a recording contract with Columbia Records.

Under the legendary music promoter Graham’s managerial wing, Mahoney became Eddie Money and produced two hit singles in ‘Baby Hold On’ and ‘Two Tickets To Paradise’. Money was quickly followed by ‘Life For The Taking’ in 1978 and produced two more hits, ‘Rock And Roll The Place’ and ‘Maybe I’m A Fool’.

Further, Money continued his successes and took benefit of the MTV music video scene in the early 1980s with his comical narrative videos for “Shakin’” and “Think I’m in Love”. But his profession started to fail him after several broken releases in the mid-1980s, attended by his struggles with drug addiction.
