Evander Kane was born on 2nd August 1991 in Vancouver, Canada. His father Perry Kane was an amateur boxer and her mother Sheri Kane was a college volleyball player. His siblings were Brea and Kyla. As he hailed out from a sports background family, from an early age Evander started to play minor hockey. By age of 14, the young Evander recorded 140 points in 66 games. During this period, he played with the bantam North Shore Winter Club team. He attended his high school at John Oliver Secondary. In the early stage apart from playing hockey, the Evander used to play soccer.

The young Evander Kane was drafted 19th overall in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft. On 25th March 2007, Evander scored his first WHL goal and became a game-tying maker. In the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Evander was selected fourth by Atlanta Thrasher. He became the highest-raised player from Vancouver after Paul Kariya (1993). With a month Thrasher signed with Evander and he had his first line-up NHL training camp for 2009-10. Later on, he played with various teams and in 2012-13 Evander joined with Kontinental Hockey League. Evander was the first Canadian professional ice hockey player to sign with KHL.
