Singer-song writer Jerry Jeff, also known as “Gypsy Songman” was born Ronald Clyde Crosby on March 16, 1942, in Oneonta, New York. His maternal grandparents used to compose music and play piano for the square dances in the Oneonta area. Ironically, Walker was not a native Texan.
In the early 1960s, he used to sing in the bars and on the street corners. One day while performing in the streets Walker met songwriter Bob Bruno and that was a turning point in his life. Later he formed a band with Bruno and formed a band called the Lost Sea Dreamers (later Circus Maximus) and relocated to New York City.
