• Sonya Curry started playing volleyball and basketball in her school days. She went to Radford High School, and by the time she completed her graduation, she had won state-level championships, playing both basketball and volleyball.
• During her university days, she chose volleyball over basketball. She played for the ‘Hokies’, the team from the Virginia Tech Sports Club. She played extremely well for her team and remained one of the star players throughout her studies at the university.
• While playing for the subordinate team, Sonya provides 57 aces in a particular time, which was the sixth-highest number of aces served in the history of Virginia Tech. At the end of her fourth year, Sonya went on to make a record score of 69-70. She also registered her name for the All-Metro Team. She graduated with a major in basic education and a minor in family studies.
• After she married Dell, she begins to support him in his game. He was an NBA star player, and it was never easy for her to be the wife of an NBA player. Until Seth was born in 1990, Sonya accompanied Dell in all his games.
